What is trending, where — and how fast?

We are considering an API that answers what is trending, where, and how fast — computed across two independent open sources: GDELT (global news-coverage data, free for commercial use, cited in every answer) and Wikimedia pageviews (what the world is actually reading; the counts are CC0).

A topic only counts as breaking out when both sources move together — news coverage alone is not enough, and reading volume alone is not enough. Every answer carries a time dimension: velocity, stage, and what changed.

Attention data only — what is being covered and read, and how fast that is changing. Not trading signals, not advice.

The endpoints it would offer

EndpointWhat it answersPrice
changesWhat changed since your last check: new breakouts, stage changes, exits$0.005/call
verdictOne call: is this topic breaking out, peaking, or fading, with the evidence$0.01/call
stageWhere a trend is in its life: emerging, accelerating, peaking, fading, dormant$0.01/call
geoWhere it started and how far it has spread$0.01/call
rankTop movers in a category, normalised so niche topics are not buried by sport and celebrity volume$0.01/call
breakoutTopics rising sharply across BOTH sources in the last 24h, with first-seen times$0.02/call
briefThe whole board in one call: breakouts + stages + spread + movers$0.05/call

Planned launch shape

A keyless per-call API — pay per call (crypto, x402), no subscription, no minimum, no account.

Honest status

This product does not exist yet, and there is no launch date. This page exists to decide whether it gets built. If 30 builders sign up — with at least 10 choosing an endpoint they would pay for at the listed price — within 14 days of our first public post about it, the build decision goes ahead and we publish the tally. Below that bar, it gets parked, and we publish that too.

Tell us if you would use it

We store only what you type here — to count signups and, if you leave a contact, to tell you the result. Nothing is sold or shared.
